Welcome to NewSong Church!

NewSong Church was formed between Christian Assembly and FallsPark Church, two unique bodies of believers who felt led to work together in bringing the Kingdom of God to the Washington, D.C. Metro Area! The following is a brief history on how our NewSong Church emerged according to Pastors Vernon Dean (Christian Assembly) and Alvin Chun (FallsPark Church):

Through Cindy Jacobs, back in 2006, Pastor Alvin received a prophetic word from the Lord saying that FallsPark Church would be given a building, a “firehouse to hold the fire.”  After hearing this word, Pastor Alvin called a time of prayer and fasting to seek understanding of God’s timing and the meaning behind this prophetic word.   It was during this time that many more words, signs and wonders were released through the congregation, all of which led and molded FallsPark Church for the union with Christian Assembly.

Just before the two churches were introduced, an elder's wife from Christian Assembly approached Pastor Vernon with revelation received during a time of private intercession.  She felt the Lord say that Christian Assembly should “consider merging with another church,” though no direction was given as to which church. This word was received by Pastor Vernon, who then began to steward it through prayer out of a desire to faithfully follow God's will for the church.

In February of 2010 at a local pastor's luncheon, Pastor Vernon and Pastor Alvin finally met by divine appointment.  During the luncheon, there was a time for each participating pastor to introduce themselves and share about their ministries.  Similarities in heart and vision were quickly seen between Pastor Vernon and Pastor Alvin. When Pastor Alvin referenced Che Ahn and Bill Johnson as his apostolic covering and Pastor Vernon shared about Christian Assembly's history, they both knew that they needed to connect.

FallsPark Church was seeking a church building at the time, as their Children's Ministry was quickly outgrowing the recreation center they were using for their services.  Pastor Vernon, along with the elders of Christian Assembly, were happy to offer their facility. In the following months, pastors, elders and apostolic overseers from both congregations were continually in prayer and open to what God was doing between the two churches, all the while feeling more and more convinced that the prophetic words received about buildings and mergers were coming to pass right before their eyes! In May of 2010, FallsPark church began meeting in the afternoon at Christian Assembly, and the two congregations began meeting together in the fall of 2010.  

After less than a year of praying and worshiping together, Christian Assembly and FallsPark Church merged on January 4th, 2011 to form NewSong Church.
