Fall 2021 - winter 2022
As long as it is sunny and the temperature is agreeable at the time of class, we will continue to meet outdoors as much as possible barring inclement weather. In light of this, we offer the following as suggestions for dressing your child to be outdoors. Please be sure to mark your child’s name on all items of clothing.
BASE LAYERS — Long Underwear & Socks
Ideal fabric: synthetic or wool fabrics (not cotton).
MID LAYERS — Sweatshirt/Pullover, Pants & Secondary Socks
This layer is meant to create a warm pocket of air around the body. Ideal fabric: fleece, wool, or nylon (not cotton). Colder days you will choose to layer with thicker mid-layer fabrics.
OUTER LAYERS — Shell/Jacket/Raincoat
Think: elements OUT and warmth IN! Ideal fabric: waterproof or water-resistant.
HEAD, HANDS, FEET — Gloves, Socks, Shoes
Come prepared with a warm hat, always (i.e. - beanie). Winter gloves/mittens are helpful. Consider insulated shoe-wear with a waterproof/water-resistant element (or multiple layers of socks).

classes
nursing mother’s & Infant room
Moms, this is for you! If you have other little ones that aren’t yet 18months, we invite you to bring them with you to this room while you feed, change diapers, or hang out during service. We will have a small bin of toys for the little ones to play with if you desire.
MINIs (18 Months - 4 YO)
Class will occur indoors every Sunday during service comprised of play&connect time as well as a simple, consistent Bible verse and power phrase.
lower (preK5- 1st Grade) & upper (2nd - 5th Grade)
We’ve opted for a two-fold approach: content & connection. The first three weeks of each month will be Lesson Sundays (content); while the fourth week will be a Field Day Sunday (activation & connection). When fifth Sundays occur, children will remain with their parents for family service (there will not be Lower/Upper class that day). Weather permitting, we will have our Lower and Upper classes outdoors where we will engage in a short lesson and activation/discussion period. In the event of inclement weather, we will move indoors.
Our hope is to be able to offer class each week, however, in the process of rebuilding we still lack the number of volunteers needed. As of Fall Launch (August 29th) we will prioritize offering class 1st and 2nd and 4th Sundays. 3rd Sundays will be a family-focused service where kids PREK5-5th grade get to participate in the main service. To stay up to date, we will be utilizing our children’s ministry text group, please text KHFAMILY to 703-972-6688 to queue in.
registration & check-in/check-out
Class Registration
Our children’s ministry uses the SmartCheckin app for checking in and out of class each Sunday. Please download the app and follow the prompts to set your account. We recommend doing this before Sunday so that Sunday morning before you come to church, you can pre-register and save a slot for your child’s class.
Check-in & Check-Out
Check-in window is 10:15-10:30A & Check-out will be promptly following the end of service, in the same location as check-in. For all classes, check-in and check-out with our KH Host is required before you pick-up your child(ren). Please go to our check-in spot listed below before pick-up.

IMPACT TEAM - Kingdom Heroes Children’s Ministry
For us, collaboration is key. We still have a need for volunteers to make class available every week. Would you prayerfully consider joining us in this season as we build a space of connection for our children? Jesus love these kids!
Current sick child policy as it pertains to Kingdom Heroes classes and its students.
This applies for all kids Nursery through 5th Grade. Although our policy does not specify for covid-19, please apply the below to all covid-19 related symptoms.
We absolutely believe in healing and God's intervention in sickness and in His desire for us to be well. That said, we are also very intentional to be cautious and considerate of others.
Thank you for honoring the policy below.
We pray that your family would experience divine health and wholeness in Jesus' name!
COLD AND FLU SEASON
"Influenza activity often begins to increase in October and November. Most of the time flu activity peaks between December and March and can last as late as May.
Please help us keep our church family healthy by following these reminders to reduce the the risk of spreading flu and colds. This applies to both children and adults. Let's be especially sensitive to the possibilities of sharing germs with our children.
Please do not bring your child to church earlier than they should just because 'they feel O.K.'"
PLEASE STAY AT HOME:
• If sick with cold or flu-like symptoms for at least 24 hours, to allow time to diagnose
• At least 24 hours after fever returns to normal temperature
• At least 24 hours after the symptoms of stomach virus are gone
• At least 24 hours following 1st dose of antibiotics
• If there is a cold and cough, even when there is no fever
WHAT PARENTS CAN DO IF THEIR CHILD BECOMES SICK:
• Keep sick children home for at least 24 hours after they no longer have a fever, without using fever-reducing medications (Tylenol or Motrin). Please err on the side of caution and give your child an additional day(s) to recover after a fever. Just because the fever has been gone for 24 hours does not mean that 26 hours later they should be coming to church. Consider keeping them home for 36 hours after they no longer have a fever.
• People who are sick should stay home from work, school, church and all other social activities and stay away from others.
QUESTIONS TO ASK IF YOU'RE WONDERING IF YOUR CHILD SHOULD STAY HOME:
-Are they running a temperature? or How long since they last ran a temperature?
-How are they acting?
-Are they contagious?
• If your child has been diagnosed with the flu, plan on staying home with your child for 5-7 days.
• If your child develops a secondary infection such as pneumonia, bronchitis, or a sinus infection, they must be on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before coming to church.
