INTRODUCTION:

In our last week on receiving vision, cause don’t forget - you don’t get it - you take it in as it comes to you, we are trying to think through the powerful practice of getting a bigger picture for vision for our lives and our families. What happens when I need to modify vision or add to it and I don’t want to mess up the “pretty picture” that I have of my life, my relationships with others, and with God. Well, you gotta get out some glue and pieces things together. There’s so much to say about this idea of learning to capture vision from all the points of reception. To be very simple, you need to learn to catch everything you can and then learn how to make a puzzle out of your vision. It’s only through all these different means of vision: story, sound, art, Scripture, and environment that you can truly create the big picture. What would it look like for you to look at all the things you’ve found along the way and put them together?

This practice of creating a collage is just a practice about learning to live our lives with Jesus. We rarely see anything in full, always in part. But what if we can move towards this practice of putting things together that don’t always seem like they go together. This is a redemptive vision and this can only happen from the perspective of Jesus. He’s the one who puts all things together. And our vision is to become like him in putting it all together.

WEEK 6: VISION FROM COLLAGE

This week, we want to practice the art of awareness through: Vision from Collage. This vision from collage is going to come from piecing things together. We are inviting you to purchase or look around you house for books, magazines, catalogs, etc. and look through them and see what strikes you on the different pages. As you cut these images or words out of the pages you have then you can be led to glue them back together on a pieces of paper or cardboard. You can then use this practice to let all your family or friends pick our words or images for you as well. And then you’ll have a full picture for this season.

The Vision Activation directions are below: (Note: This can be done individually or together with family & friends)

  1. Pray for eyes to see.

  2. Cut out words, pictures, etc. that you see that you are drawn to…nothing’s off limits.

  3. Paste them on a blank page to see it all come together.

  4. Were you able to see a bigger picture or theme? Did you get something different when it was all put together?

  5. Ask the core questions:

  • What parts of the collage are more significant in your vision?

  • What part have you been missing that you got in this practice?

  • How is this vision through the collage revealing Jesus?
